The trip back went almost as smoothly as it did going out. Lillian decided she wanted to see the sun rise so she got up at around 5:30am. I took her downstairs around 6:15am so Debbie the driver could get some sleep and we watched a bunch of TV. After packing up and making sure I remembered my toothbrush we left at around 9:00am.
The longest stop we made was in Wheeling, WV for a Coleman’s fish sandwich and a Michael’s Roast Beef sandwich. When I peered into my goodie bag well on our way down 470 I noticed that they had accidentally given me 2 sandwiches. Awesome.

Originally I was hoping to grab a night with Debbie where we could hit Sushi-Ko and then the Marcus Cinemas Crosswoods and finally see Borat (after several sort of aborted attempts in LA). We ultimately decided to hit the Cap City Diner and Cafe Mozart instead. Debbie parents graciously kept watch on a sleeping Lillian and we headed out at around 8:00pm.

Usually Dad and I hit Nancy’s at around 11am on the first afternoon that I’m in town. This time because of a conference call he asked if we could meet at noon instead. He gave the call when he was ready and I headed out. I noticed that 315 south right out of the neighborhood was slow but then it got even slower. Then slower still. Then it just stopped. I weighed by options as I became later and later. Dad doesn’t have a cell so I called Debbie. Just as I did I saw what was holding us up. An accident involving a couple of cars and a DHL truck right near Jewitt. It looked like an exiting vehicle off Jewitt never got the chance to turn and just plowed into the guardrail. The northbound lane was blocked and the police were letting each side alternate.
After getting past the block I was clear, but still 15 minutes late. Thanks Dad for not giving up on me.
The selection today was either beef and noodles or chicken and noodles. Dad and I both chose chicken and it was awesome.
Sadly dinner didn’t have the same effect. I think Pizza Hut has just lost the charm it held for me when I was 8. Their “Supreme” pizza is a slight overexaggeration.

Debbie was keeping us to a tight schedule and had most of the car packed up last night. The only stuff that was really missing was mine - go figure. I took care of that this morning however and so far I think I only forgot one thing - my razor. I don’t really want to buy another one so I’ll have to improvise.
We left the house at about 8:45am after Debbie had gone out for gas and pork roll bagels. She had wanted to leave at 8:00am so we did pretty well with being only 45 minutes late. Down the Parkway we went, West on 195 and down the Turkpikes into Pennsylvania. Lillian listend to music and watched a video. We made a stop at the Lawn service plaza where Lillian played the the buttons on the scratch-off lottery machine. I slept a few times and we stopped at a BP somewhere after New Stanton. The trip went by fairly fast and son we were stuck in rush-hour traffic on 315 in Columbus, less than 10 hours after we left.
Lillian spent the rest of the night running around with Suzie while we ate City Barbecue for dinner.
Tomorrow - Nancy’s Home Cooking I hope.

We’re packing up and heading to Columbus for Thanksgiving tomorrow. My short packing list:
- Clothes - lots of clothes
- All kinds of AC adapters and chargers
- A bunch of TV shows on DVD
- Star Wars Battlefront (I)
Here’s the route… sort of. Google maps makes the trip a lot longer than is has to be, but you get the idea.
I hope to catch up on this blog here. I’m missing a ton:
- Details from the last trip to LA
- Going to Boston
- CT hot dogs
- The last trip to LA a couple of weeks ago
- Grandma’s funeral
- Korean barbecue
- Halloween
