With the gas prices topping out over $3/gallon and with all the uncertainty about the pipeline capacity and wholesale gas distribution problems Debbie and I decided to nix the trip to Columbus. I’d been panicking a bit since yesterday when i saw gas prices rise about 50 cents a gallon in one day. I was going to fill up my tank yesterday and held off because of the long lines and today I was kicking myself for not doing it.
Cancelling the trip was a good idea because with the high prices this was looking to be a $200-$300 dollar trip. I was also uncertain of what the gas situation was in Ohio and whether or not gas stations would be open - some places were shutting down apparently not for lack of supply but because the wholesale prices were increasing at such a fast rate that by staying open stations were losing too much money. I guess the Honda Insight doesn’t look like such an ugly car after all. I’m also (sorta) sorry for making fun of the Geo Metro.
Lillian got her shots today and was given the green light to start solids next week when she turns 6 months old. She starts with rice cereal first and then upgrades to oatmeal and barley. This should be very exciting and messy.
We didn’t really want to mess with dinner so we took a long walk to Ninette. The original plan was to get a pizza but Debbie was feeling calzone and when I saw how huge they were in their cool entree display case we had to get one. I also ordered some garlic knots. I really didn’t have to however as the nice pizza guy behind the counter slipped one to Lillian as a gift.
